Assessing and Improving the Research Performance at
Southeast Asian Universities

Project information:

On of the focus of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education is on the investment in research and innovation, which is foreseen as essential for Europe’s society aiming to produce Europe as a world-class science and technology community that drives economic growth not only in the European geographical area. As part of this effort, it is of the foremost importance to bring together European scientists with those from around the world. Building research and innovation capacities is a challenging task and the current project will address this task within the cooperation network of Asian and European partners. The research capacities will be developed at partner higher education institutions in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand through the creation and implementation of the System of the Assessment of Quality and Impact of Research and the development and the introduction of self-contained transferable research skills training modules.

The National Conference aims to address the two main issues from the final outcomes of the project including 1) National policy recommendation for research performance measurement and criteria and 2) The research performance measurement “System of Assessment for Impact and Quality of Research-SAIQoR”

Project objectives:

– To develop and implement the System of the Assessment of the Quality and Impact of Research at partner higher education institutions in partner countries of Region 6 (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand).

– To develop, implement and accredit transferable research skill training modules at partner higher education institutions.

– To develop international cooperation among members of the partnership at regional and interregional levels.
